Thunder News Flash – November 11, 2023

Please note that Monday, November 13th there will be no school as we observe the Remembrance Day holiday.  May we continue to pray for those who have served and for peace in our world.  Also, school will be closed on Nov. 24th as staff will attend a district-wide Professional Development Day.

All parents and students are invited to attend the SJB Open House on Thursday, November 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00pm. We extend a special invitation to families with school age children in Grades 4-7!  Please encourage your friends, neighbours, and fellow parishioners to come and see our secondary school in action!  

Applications for new students for the 2024-2025 school year will be available at the Open House, at the school or parish offices, and on our website (www.stjohnbrebeuf.ca).

Please note that our Holly Jolly Trivia Night that was to take place on December 2nd has been postponed to the spring.  We realized that this is the same night as the Christmas Dinner at St. Ann’s and we would like to have as many parents there as possible. 

There will be NO Mass this week, as the priests will be attending a study week.  Please keep all of our priests in your prayers as they attend their study week.

Thank you for supporting our Fresh to You Fundraiser.  Your bundles will be ready for pick-up on Wednesday, November 15 at 2:30pm, outside the front of the school.  Each bundle weights about 12-16lbs – please have an adult pick them up. We are unable to store any bundles that are not picked up.

FUNDRAISER Parent Participation Hours Opportunity:

The PFA is looking for 4 volunteers to help sort and handout the Fresh to You Fundraiser Bundles on Wednesday, November 15 from 1-3pm.  Please note that this involves lifting 16lb bags, and potentially some heavier boxes.  Please contact Nicola Humphreys at nicolawithers@hotmail.com if you are able to help. 

We would like to invite all youth 11 to 17 years of age to join us on Friday nights, starting November 17th from 6:30 pm – 8 pm. Come join us for sports, snacks, and fun. Fr. Jaime will also be leading us in a time of prayer. Remember, you don’t have to be amazing at sports to come and have fun. We look forward to seeing you at St. Ann’s gym!
