Thunder News Flash – February 20-24

All students and their families are welcome to join us at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital for the Hospital Outreach Mass on Sunday, February 26th at 4:00pm.  The Mass takes place in the Chapel on the main floor.  Students in Grades 6 and 7 are invited to be the readers.  If you would like to be a reader, please arrive at 3:45pm. Mrs. Wakely and Mrs. Dos Santos will be there to help supervise and prepare the volunteers.  We also appreciate lots of young voices to help with the singing!  We hope to see many of you there.

Please note that your Income Tax Receipts for the 2016 calendar year are available to be picked up at the school office.   These Income Tax Receipts represent the portion of your paid tuition that is used to pay for the religious instruction offered by our school.  If you have not picked up your Income Tax Receipt by the end of February, your receipt will be mailed to you.  Any receipts for donations such as for the Walkathon will be sent to you directly by St. Ann’s Parish.

Across the country, February 22nd is a day set aside to focus on anti-bullying awareness.  Students are encouraged to exchange their uniform shirt for a pink shirt to support this very important day.  Many stores sell pink t-shirts for a reasonable price, but if you don’t want to buy one why not borrow one from a family member, friend or neighbour.  If you still can’t find a pink shirt to wear, wear a pink sticker or pink ribbon on your uniform shirt to show your support!

Sr. Rhonda Brown from the Vancouver Archdiocese is organizing a Vocations Fair at Notre Dame Regional Secondary School, 2880 Venables St., Vancouver, on Tuesday, February 21st.  It is open to everyone from 4:00 – 8:00pm, so if you know someone who is considering the religious life, please let them know about this event.  

Re-Registration Packages will be sent home with the oldest child in each family on Friday, March 3rd.  The Re-Registration Package will contain a letter that explains the major changes and how to complete the package.  Completed Re-Registration Packages are due back on Wednesday, March 8th at the end of the Re-Registration/AGM Night (packages will not be accepted early).

Our mandatory annual Re-Registration/AGM Night will be held on Wednesday, March 8th from 6:30-8:00pm.  The Education Committee will be serving bowls of chili starting at 6:00pm in the gym and there will also be free babysitting available in the library for those families who are not able to leave their children at home.  Only completed Re-Registration Packages received at the end of the evening will be eligible for the discounted registration fee.  Please note that all completed packages must be returned by Friday, March 10th at the latest to hold your child’s space for the 2017/18 school year.

St. Ann’s Parish wishes to extend an invitation to all families interested in a special evening of music, praise and worship!  This event will take place on Saturday, March 4th from 7:00-9:00pm.  All proceeds from this special concert will be going to the Syrian Refugee Sponsorship at St. Ann’s.  Tickets are available at the parish and more information can be found out about Fr.
