Care for Everyone in Our Common Home
It has been one year since the Taschereau Family lost their house to a fire. At that time, the St. James and St. Ann’s Elementary School community rallied together to show their care for one of our school families. I would like to share a message with you from the Taschereau Family:
To the staff, family and students of our wonderful school community at St. James and St. Ann’s Elementary, my kids and I would like to mark the one year anniversary of our house fire by having the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered on December 11 at Westminster Abbey in thanksgiving for all who gave us material, spiritual and moral support. Our community has been the greatest blessing. We could not have risen from the ashes without you!
Love and prayers, The Taschereau Family

Christmas Giving Tree
Our Christmas Giving Tree is now up and the tags are on the tree. I would like to go over some of the logistics to help ensure that this is a success:
- Students are not allowed to take a tag from the tree unless they have permission from their parents. Parents, please email the school at office@stjameselementary.ca and simply explain that you would like your child to pick a tag. Please provide a price range and Mrs. Dlugan will assist your child in picking a tag. Parents are welcome to pick a tag before school or after school at their convenience.
- Tags vary in price range and in the items requested. We are giving to St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Charities Justice Services which works with Prisons, and Nightshift.
- Families may take more than one tag if they wish.
- An example of a tag might be “Canned Tomatoes.” We do not specify the amount of cans a family wishes to contribute. Whether it is one can or ten cans is totally up to the family donating.
- All items are to be brand new.
- All items are to be brought to the office with the tag so that an ornament can go on the tree.
We thank all of you for working with us to model the true spirit of Christmas.

Winter Uniform Reminder
We are noticing that a number of girls are continuing to wear the skort, which is part of the summer uniform. Many of the girls, especially those in Kindergarten, are wearing the skort with tights underneath. At this time of the year, girls are allowed to wear the following as stated in the Parent Handbook:
Prescribed tunic (Grades 1 – 7), kilt (Grades 4 – 7) or prescribed navy uniform pants, from Neat Uniforms, or similar pants to those at Neat Uniforms (no low riders, cargo, wide waist). We thank you for your cooperation.
