Thunder News Flash – April 6, 2019

We have once again been invited to the Knights of Columbus Track Meet which will take place on Saturday, May 11th at Bear Creek Park in Surrey.  As this is a Saturday, parents are expected to bring their children to the meet by 8:30am at the latest, help with supervision, and take their children home at the end of the meet at approximately 2:00pm.  In order to determine if we will take part in this event as a school, we need to know how many families are willing to participate.  Please indicate your willingness to participate by sending an email to the school by clicking here no later than April 23rd.  If we do not have enough students to participate in this meet as a school, there may be an opportunity for students to participate individually.

Please note these important dates in April:

• Monday, April 8th – Class/Team Photos
• Thursday, April 18th – Holy Thursday – dismissal at 12:55pm
• Friday, April 19th – Good Friday – no school
• Monday, April 22nd – Easter Monday – no school
• Friday, April 26th – Walkathon – dismissal at 12:15pm

Please click here to sign up for your Walkathon Fundraising Assignment.  This is first-come, first-choice, so do not delay.

The Fundraiser requirement of your Parent Participation commitment is fulfilled by working up to 3 hours at one of our fundraisers held each year.  This is in addition to the 20-hour parent participation commitment to a task group.  Walkathon is the last fundraiser of the year, so if you did not work at Fun Night or Movie Night, this is your last chance to sign up for a fundraiser.  If you do not fulfill your Fundraiser commitment, your $150 Fundraiser cheque will be cashed in June.

The next Work Bee will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 9:00am – 2:00pm.  Hopefully the weather will be nice to allow for some outdoor work, but please dress for the weather.  If you have any small gardening tools to help tidy up the plants around the school, please bring them with you as well as work gloves.  We look forward to seeing all those who are signed up to help, and those who need to make up some parent participation time!

Why not join the Parent Prayer Group during these last few weeks of Lent in praying the rosary for our school community at 8:30am on Thursday mornings.  Please note that they meet each week in the school Library.  Small children and babies are welcome.

Please join us for our next school Mass led by the Grade 1 class.  The Mass will take place at 9:00am at St. James Church on Wednesday, April 10th.  We hope to see many families there to help us continue our Lenten journey together.

Walkathon:  Friday, April 26th – only 3 weeks away!  We hope that students are busy collecting pledges to raise money for a 3D Printer, new Sports Equipment and new Science Equipment.  

Every student who collects Walkathon pledges WINS A PRIZE and there are lots of exciting Walkathon prizes to be won!
