Thunder News Flash – June 23, 2018

This is my last Newsflash. I want to say thank you to everyone for all the kind words and support. I will miss the community of St. James and St. Ann’s Elementary. I really do wish the students, the parents, and the staff all the best. 

With this being the last Newsflash I want to leave you with John Wooden’s quote on success. I think it is appropriate given the upcoming week: “Success is the peace of mind in knowing you did the best of which you are capable.” Take some time to really examine that quote. This is coming from a basketball coach that won 10 National NCAA Div 1 Championships. With the awards assembly coming up and with report cards coming home on the last day of school, I really think the best thing we can do for our students and the best thing you can do for your children is to help them understand what success really means. For a more complete understanding of Wooden’s quote I encourage you to examine his Pyramid of Success. 

I would like to remind everyone of some of the highlights of this last week of school.

Monday – Step Up Day – This starts after lunch on Monday. Gr. 7 Students have an early dismissal from school at lunch.

Tuesday – In the morning the teachers will be in the parking lot handing out coffees and treats to parents as a way of saying thank you to all of our parents who volunteer and donate their time to the school.

Wednesday – Celebration of Excellence Assembly will start at 8:45am. Students will then be cleaning out their desks that day. 

Thursday – Last day of school. Mass is at 9:00am and an assembly will follow. Dismissal is at 11:30am.

As we approach the end of the school year we kindly ask that parents clear up any outstanding amounts owed to the school. Our fiscal year closes on June 30th so we are asking for your cooperation in this matter. For those parents who use Thunder Club we ask that you settle your account on the last day you use the club. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
