Happy New Year! We hope each of you had a rejuvenating and joyful winter break spent with loved ones. As we dive back into our school routines, we understand that transitioning from the comfort of the holidays to our academic setting can be quite challenging for both students, staff and parents alike.
Returning to the structure and routine of school after a break, especially one as delightful as the winter vacation, can be a bit demanding. However, it’s crucial that we re-establish our momentum and dive back into our learning journey.
As we resume our academic pursuits, we encourage our students to embrace this opportunity for a fresh start. Reconnecting with friends, engaging in classroom discussions, and diving into our curriculum with renewed enthusiasm are essential elements of our return. .

Special School Assembly
We will be having a special assembly at the school to celebrate the Epiphany! The Grade 5 class has been working hard to rehearse an epiphany play that they would like to share with the school community. The assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14 at 8:45. Parents are invited to attend!This assembly will replace the one originally scheduled for January 22. There will be no assembly that day. We hope that you will join us this Tuesday instead!

Work Bee - TODAY - January 11
The January Work Bee will take place at the school this Saturday, January 11th, from 9am-2pm. You may want to bring gloves for outside work. It would also be greatly appreciated if you could bring any small gardening tools, particularly a rake. Please also bring a lunch for the mid-day break. Thank you once again for all of your hard work to keep our school well maintained and beautiful! All remaining Work Bee dates for this year have been uploaded to the School Calendar.

Thunder Community Night at the Abbotsford Canucks
The Thunder Community at St. James and St. Ann’s School is once again hosting a School Spirit Night at an upcoming Abbotsford Canucks Home Game. Everyone is invited to join us Friday, January 31st at Abbotsford Centre as our Abbotsford Canucks face off to the Calgary Wranglers. Tickets are only $28 each and there are chances of winning prizes as well! EVERYONE is welcome, so invite your friends, your family and your neighbours! We are expecting a FUN night out and would love to fill the stands with people from our faith community. These tickets would make great gift to celebrate the new year, so get your tickets today! Our hot lunch ordering system, Munch a Lunch, is OPEN! We are accepting orders for February hot lunch dates. Ordering closes January 12th at midnight. Orders will not be accepted after this date due to ordering timelines with vendors.

Endow Women's Study Group
Endow Women’s Study GroupAll women are invited to join us for an 8-session Endow study on Saint John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter, On the Christian Meaning of Suffering. This study explores the question of why God allows suffering, and will help us to ponder its meaning in our own lives. We will meet for eight Wednesdays from January 22nd to May 14th, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the St. James Church meeting room. Cost is $30 for a digital copy or $60 for a hard copy.
