What do you want of me, Lord?
Time is passing so quickly – our Spring Break is almost over, and we are already half way through the season of Lent. This is a good time to reassess our Lenten journey and see if we have been keeping up with our Lenten promises. Lent is a time where we usually start off very strong in our commitment to praying more, fasting and giving alms. But if you are like most people, somewhere along the journey our commitment fizzles out. Maybe we are weak, careless, or just plain forgetful. Or maybe we just struggle with making big sacrifices for six whole weeks. How about trying something different each day, such as on Monday you might try a new form of prayer. On Tuesday you might decide to fast. Maybe Wednesday is a good day to perform a charitable work of mercy. And so on. Lent is a time when we should be doing things differently than we normally would. This might be a good time to recommit ourselves to the idea of sacrifice as we journey down the path towards Easter.
