  • Care for Everyone in Our Common Home

For the Catholic Church, October is the month of the Rosary. I encourage all families to find time to pray the Rosary as a family. Teach your children to dedicate the Rosary to a special intention. Teaching our children to pray for others develops a sense of empathy and care for others.

  • Medical Care Plans

If your child has an allergy or medical condition, the school needs to know about it so that we are prepared to help your child in the event of a medical emergency. We have forms at the office and in the welcome package that was mailed in August there were care plans included for families where we knew of a medical condition. It is very important that all families that have children with allergies or medical conditions to hand in these care plans this week.

  • Wine and Cheese Night

St. Ann’s Family Group would like to invite all parents to a fun evening for adults on Saturday, October 14th from 7-9pm. Come and enjoy a wine and cheese social as well as a video on the Meaning of Marriage from the “Beloved” course. Admission is by donation. Please RSVP to stannsfamilygroup@gmail.com. We hope you’ll join us!

More information on “Beloved” can be found here: https://www.lighthousecatholicmedia.org/beloved

  • Hot Lunch

Hot Lunch order forms were sent home September 27 and are due back on October 6 by 2:30pm. No late orders will be accepted.

  • Sports

Please check the website for information regarding sports games and practices. We are now into the Volleyball season as well as Soccer for Gr. 4 and 5.

  • Remind

The school will be using the Remind application as an additional method to broadcast important announcements and reminders. This week we will email parents the link to sign up so please watch for this email. Remind works as a messaging system on your device and it is free. These announcements can be received by text, the app, web, or email. The school will use Remind in such a way that we can send a message to everyone who has signed up but no one else will be able to message each other or post messages themselves. This is because we want to respect individual privacy and maintain control over the content. It is a much quicker and more efficient way of communicating things like practice cancellations or school closures. Instead of spending 30 minutes trying to call all the parents, we can use Remind to get the message out instantly. Remind is being used with success at St. Patrick’s Maple Ridge, IC Delta, and other Catholic elementary schools and I hope we can use it at St. James and St. Ann’s with success as well.
