Feed the Future
Feed the Future – Beginning this monthWe will be starting our “Feed the Future” initiative this month. Feed the Future is a government grant that provides some extra funding to help those families in our school community struggling with food insecurity. The school will use the money in a few different ways:Breakfast Run – We will have a few healthy food choices available in the morning for students in need, such as granola bars, cheese, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Students may select 1-2 items to take outside with them to eat as they arrive in the morning.Hot Food – We can help with the cost of a hot lunch once a week through our Munch a Lunch Program.Grocery Gift Cards – a few times during the year, gift cards will be distributed to families in need.If your family is in need of support, please contact our school office. We need families to sign up before participating in the program, as we need to be aware of any food allergies or nutritional sensitivities. Please contact the school office no later than next Friday, October 18 if you would like to sign up. All information shared will be held in the strictest of confidence. office@stjameselementary.caOnce we have the list of families and students participating in the program, we will begin our Breakfast Run. We hope to begin by the last week in October. Participating families will be contacted directly with more information and the start dates. We are also looking for help with our Breakfast Run initiative. We need parent help to hand out breakfast items from 8:10-9:10 each day. These hours will count as parent volunteer hours. Please contact Miss Lewis if you can help. slewis@stjameselementary.ca
