Thunder News Flash – October 14, 2023

On Monday, October 23rd your child will be bringing home their Interim Progress Report.  This Progress Report focuses on learning behaviours, which certainly can have an impact on academic success in the classroom.  Many children, especially those in the younger grades, are still learning how to be students in a classroom, and in a new grade.  They may have some check marks in the “still working on” column and this is to be expected, especially this early in the school year.  If these learning behaviours continue to be inconsistent, this may help to form some of the goals that will be developed and discussed at the Parent/Teacher Interviews in November.

Just a reminder that if you are using the drop off lane in the morning, parents should remain in their vehicles.  Students should be able to remove their seatbelt, open and close the vehicle door, and get their backpack all on their own.   Parents using the drop off lane are often in a hurry to get to work, so the line needs to move quickly.  If your children still need assistance, please park in the parent parking lot where there is no need to rush.

Just a reminder that there will be no school on Friday, October 20th for the Provincial Pro-D Day.

Please come look through the Lost and Found bin near the office.  Any items not picked up will be donated to charity.

Our Fall Movie Night Fundraiser will be on Friday, November 3! Our movie will be, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”. We are inviting businesses to support us as a Movie Night sponsor. Help us make this night fantastic for our students & families while contributing to our school efforts and promoting your business. A reminder that photo re-takes will take place on October 30th.

We would love for you to join us on Wednesday, November 1st at 6:30pm at The Townhall in Abbotsford for our first community building night. Join us for a fun, adult night out with other school parents while enjoying a challenging game of Music Bingo. Tickets will only be $20 which includes a burger, fries, a drink, and BINGO! Watch your email for more information on how to purchase your tickets.

Students are encouraged to carve pumpkins at home and bring them in on October 30th (NAME MUST be on the pumpkin).  We will display them in the gym for Halloween sock hop.  Prizes for the top 3 pumpkins!  Students are encouraged to bring the pumpkins home at the end of the day on Oct. 31st.  Happy carving!
